BON AIR
Just a stone’s throw from Carytown (if you can throw a stone 5 miles), Bon Air is a suburb of Chesterfield County with easy access to city living. It was originally conceived as a summer resort area for fancy Richmonders in the late 1800s, which explains why it’s a designated National Historic District. These days, relaxing means grabbing a coffee at Perk! or a scoop of heaven from Gelati Celesti and browsing the local restaurants and boutiques of Stony Point Shopping Center.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Blocks of pretty Victorian houses painted in pastels. Local fishmongers and butchers. Parades and community pride. Small-town feels with a quick commute to the big city.
WHAT’S UNEXPECTED
A seasonally costumed goat perched on top of the roof of a Victorian house on Buford Avenue. He’s fake, but he doesn’t let that stop him from slaying. If you’re on the hunt for some new looks, do a drive-by and take notes.
